Excursions on Pemba Island

The dense and wonderfully lush forest at Ngezi is one of the last remaining areas of primary forest that once covered western Pemba. It’s notable in that it resembles the highland rainforests of East Africa more than the lowland forests found in Zanzibar. The 1476-hectare reserve is a true double canopy with an upper layer of Mgulele, Mwavi, Mtondoo and Mvule trees towering up to 40m high with lianas snaking between them providing swings for raucous monkeys. You’ll find the visitor centre 4km west of Konde on the road to Ras Kigomasha.
The Pemba Channel is known as the best place for big game fishing in Zanzibar and Tanzania and probably the best place in Africa, with Marlin, Sailfish, & more
We will sail in calm waters along the extremely picturesque Gando creek; here you will see mangroves, flora, and beautiful birds as the dhow sails. You will be visiting a local village and during the visit, you’ll be entertained by local drums and you can join us in singing some African songs!
Whether on honeymoon, with your family or by yourself, going on a sunset cruise in a traditional sailing dhow in Pemba island is the perfect way to wind down the day. Come with your partner to turn up the romance or with your friends and family to see the island of Pemba right from the ocean’s perspective! One can savour a glass of chilled wine, cocktail, beer or soft drink as you watch the villages a bit far from the Ocean.
